Clint and I often talk about where our "dream house" will be. You know, the one that we will buy when we win the lottery, (Positive thinking) OR when Publisher's Clearing House finally drops off the cheque that we should have gotten years ago. (More positive thinking). At any rate, we currently have our options narrowed down to three: luxury real estate in Mahogany, luxury real estate in Auburn Bay, or luxury real estate in Lake Bonaventure.
So every now and then I sit in my little house in Auburn Bay, and click away on my dinosaur of a laptop, and imagine Calgary luxury listings that could be mine. If we were to put our house in Auburn Bay for sale, I doubt we could even get what we paid for it out. *sigh* But sometimes I like to pretend that we could stretch out our income (to the absolute max) and just get into one of the lake access homes for sale in Auburn Bay. When we bought this house for sale in Auburn Bay (the one we're actually in right now), actually getting an Auburn Bay lake access lot was totally out of reach, but now, check this out!
I can't believe you can get lake access for $639,000 right now! Of course this house is totally impractical for me and my family, unless of course my kids could get used to sleeping in the pot drawers. (Don't think I haven't considered it). LAKE ACCESS people! This is not the kind of access where you get a card and now you're allowed to go to the lake through the Auburn House entrance. No, this is: walk out to your back yard, open a gate, walk down the private path, and head to the dock. Maybe I'm just obsessed with having a lake access house in Calgary because I grew up in a Calgary house that has lake access, so I want my kids to have that same experience.
Please don't even get me started about buying a house that backs onto Auburn Bay Lake. As I kid I always dreamed about having one of those houses. It's like living in a vacation 24/7, 365! Right now there are no listings in Auburn Bay for homes that back onto Auburn Bay Lake. So I have no Auburn Bay listings to show you here in an effort to make you drool with me, but I do see some examples of listings in Lake Bonaventure that do back onto the lake.
They have been listed since May 2010. I think they're just waiting for Clint and I to make an offer, which we totally would if we had any indication that they would accept bits of string and/or monopoly money as payment. A lake and a pool! That's a little bit of heaven to me!
