I’ve always loved this community. In fact, Clint and I own a place in McKenzie Towne that we rent out for revenue. That place was where we moved right when we were married. McKenzie Towne has mass appeal. Right from when the first homes were being built there, I loved the architecture, style, and planning in McKenzie Towne. McKenzie Towne takes a page out of old British landscaping and building and fuses it with modern style, and walkability. Included in McKenzie Towne are the Village of Prestwick, Elgin and Inverness. Technically New Brighton is its own community, but I would call it a cousin to McKenzie Towne.
Likely, your first introduction to this community will be the infamous traffic circle, depending on where you’re coming from. Having driven this circle for many years before we relocated to Auburn Bay, I have mastered the skill of driving in it. Sadly, many others in the community have not. So I have posted this little traffic circle diagram for those of you thinking about scoping out the area.
If you’re taking this circle from Deerfoot, your first turn off will take you into the Village of Prestwick. The next turn will take you onto McKenzie Towne Blvd which will lead to New Brighton. The next will take you to McKenzie Towne Gate which will lead you into the funky shops of McKenzie Towne, and the last will take you down Inverness Gate which will lead you into Inverness or Elgin.
Over the next few weeks we’re going to take a look at each of the Villages contained in McKenzie Towne, and their neighbouring communities. Stay tuned in the coming weeks to learn more about Elgin or Inverness, the Village of Prestwick, New Brighton, Copperfield, and all the amenities associated with McKenzie Towne proper!
