Auburn Bay Homes & Gardens: How to Rock a Corner Lot

Posted by Rachel R. Vanderveen on Wednesday, July 11th, 2012 at 12:53pm.

This is the blog I’ve been waiting to write! I stopped by the home that had the amazing corner lot the other day and snapped some photos of her corner lot. I’ll show them to you first, and then I’ll discuss what she has done so well. I will note that the homeowner gave me permission to leave the address visible to the public, but for anyone else interested in showcasing their home here, I can always remove the indications of address.

OK, look at the majesty here! Being owners of a corner lot, Clint and I have always struggled with what to do with all that extra space we have! You can see that this homeowner made the best use of her land, and certainly added a lot of value by adding this elegant tea patio and garden. You can’t see in the above photo as well as the below photo how gorgeous her patio is. Look at the one below.

This is a bit of a better picture of it. You can see that she’s surrounded her little oasis with low maintenance garden items and decorative pieces that I think are just right. Not too much, and not too little. It’s important when doing your landscaping to remember that not everyone has a green thumb. I think that the plants and shrubs placed here are such that anyone could take them over.

You have to drive by this place sometime and just see how amazing the view from the street is. The place looks so quaint and inviting, and, really, that’s exactly the feel we want when we’re setting a stage to sell.

This last photo is how the place looked from the doorstep. Wouldn’t you love to walk out your front door and see this set-up! Gorgeous right? From what I can tell this could easily be achieved by anyone. Patio stones are not rocket science, and neither is the landscaping she put in here. Admittedly, learning how to position and place the plants in the artful way that she has, might be something of a skill. She’s placed enough there to promote a bit of a private oasis, and not so little that the patio isn’t properly framed. It’s just lovely!
