So here I am just browsing through New Articles and I stumble across this news article which tells the story of a single mom, Jodi Caskey, who has been selected to help in building her own home in Auburn Bay. The one article told me enough to want to Google this woman’s name and find out more about her. Turns out she has 5 kids, and one of them is in a wheelchair and requires tons of extra care. She’ll be putting in over 500 hours of work towards her new home. What a woman!!! Single mamma, with a child who has special needs, is now spending 500 hours building her own home! Maybe if she opens her blouse, we might see she’s sporting blue onesie with a superwoman symbol under there!!!

Welcome to Auburn Bay, Jodi Caskey! Please e-mail me your particulars so

My clients are always wanting to know where they can expect to send their kids if they move here. As of this writing, schooling for this area is in a bit of limbo state. Unfortunately school development has kept up with urban sprawl about as well as Blackberry has kept up to App development.  But if you’re looking for your school in Auburn Bay, here are your options.

Clint and I have had a little obsession with the idea of “Island Homes,” ever since we started taking buyers through McKenzie Lake Island a few years back. I, personally, love the idea of having a home on an island. How cool is that? I’ve been watching as they’ve been building up Mahogany, and thinking a lot about their Island homes. There’s a few things that I love about the Island homes in Mahogany.

1)      There’s going to be 22 lots, so the Mahogany Island community will be small and likely tight-knit.

2)      The lots themselves are going to be fairly large, and so a person could be very imaginative with what they could build on there. Which brings me to…

3)      The lots are ready for custom homes, which means that a person looking for a

Most Calgary Foreclosure listings ask that you leave your offer open for 48-72 hours in order to give enough time for them to respond. This can be a bit nerve racking for buyers holding their good faith cheque in hand, and packing boxes getting ready to move.

So why does it take so long for the bank to consider our offer and respond? There’s a few reasons, and none of them are because there’s just a bunch of monkeys sitting behind typewriters at the branch. (Trust me, I asked).

Unlike a private sale, there is more than one person to consult with for every offer. Sometimes the offers are going to the bank itself, and other times they are going into a law office that makes decisions for the bank and handles all of their sales. Then other times, the

Last night Clint and I did a Calgary new home buyers seminar. It was actually super-fun. Clint made a new presentation using a tool that is like Powerpoint, but way better. I don’t usually get nervous in front of people, but I found myself sweating last night. I don’t know why. There were probably about 15 people there, and I had to just keep telling myself, “What is the worst that can happen?” Do you ever find that when you get anxious, going straight to what the worst case scenario is, usually calms you down? Because 9 times out of 10 it’s not as bad as what you think.

So the worst case scenario that I could imagine would be if I got up there, started talking, and then just passed out and hit the deck. That would probably be the worst, and really when

Lately I’ve been dealing a lot with first time home buyers looking for Calgary Real Estate. Often times, it’s a “learn as you go” situation for them, which can leave people feeling anxious. I always do my best to walk slowly with first-timers, but wouldn’t it be great if those who have never bought or sold real estate in Calgary could just come to a free seminar where they could learn all about buying a home for the first time? Why yes, yes it would. Which is why Kathy Fleshman, with RBC, has teamed up with Clint and me to host a seminar which will answer all of your questions on the ups, downs, ins, and outs of buying a home in Calgary.

Whether you’re looking for a condo, townhouse, single family home, or luxury property, come on down and find out how

I love doing hair. I love, love, love it. So my daughter has had to carry the unfortunate burden of my little hobby. People see Faith’s hair and they ask, “How do you get her to sit still for that?” For a long time, she didn’t mind me yanking and pulling her hair into a gorgeous style fit for the red carpet; she just sat still with no further intervention. But just recently, when the tangles have gotten to be too much, she starts crying and begging me to just leave it in knots. In order to be able to continue with my hobby, and include her in what has become some very special bonding time, I’ve had to come up with two solutions to keep her not only still, but happy, as we do her hair.

So for all the ladies who have asked, here is how I keep Faith
